Rotate the mast using the mechanism down the stairs on your left until it is resting over the blocking wood near where you first entered the deck. Jump to the raft and climb up to the ship's deck.Ībove you, you'll see a cannon tied to a large mast. In terms of story and gameplay, this was actually my favorite side mission so far.Head to the right and kick the raft towards the climbable pieces of the ship. I don’t want to spoil anything, but the last part will take place in the Abandoned Village, which will no longer be abandoned. There are several more tasks to complete after that, all of which will require the Serpent Guard offit. You have to be wearing the Serpent Guard outfit to start the dialogue with her after which you’ll track down 3 murals around the hidden city, the search areas of which will be marked on the map and will glow green w/ survivor sense. When you approach, the little girl will be complaining that she can’t decipher the monolith she stands before. The first part of Ancient Studies is “Decipher the Murals.” It starts by finding a little girl on a tiny river island in the small fishing village at the edge of the Market in the Hidden City.
How did you start the "Ancient Studies" side-missions? I can't see any clues as to how to do that. I noticed the changing markers, too, bit confusing that.
Is this a glitch, or am I just interpreting the markers wrong? However, when I fast travel there, it returns to being grayed out. But then later, it’ll go from being grayed out to bright white, indicating it’s still active. For example, I’ve noticed that certain Tomb markers are grayed out, indicating I’ve completed it. So here’s my question: was I wrong in thinking the map marker for the last crypt in the Speak of the Dead challenge was supposed to indicate a rough location? IOW, are certain map markers completely unrelated to actual locations? I’ve also noticed that certain map markers seem to randomly change from active to completed. In fact, I ended up discovering the missing crypt for the challenge in a hard-to-access cave close to the water of the raging river, on the other side of the rope bridge where I had completed an earlier Tomb and crypt. But after an hour of searching, I knew the marker had to be wrong. Initially I thought there must be another crypt close by that I had missed.
For example, when I had gotten 3 of the 4 crypt secrets in the HC for the Speak of the Dead challenge, the map challenge marker for the remaining crypt was squarely in the jungle just outside the area with the Warrior’s Trial Tomb, close to where I had just finished a nearby crypt. I’ve noticed that sometimes map markers are unreliable-unless I’m interpreting them incorrectly. And this one concerns how to interpret information provided on the map and in region stats. I checked my map and there’s not another Mission Giver marker, which leads to my second question. Has anyone else run into this? Have you noticed a side mission in the HC that was easily overlooked? I finally looked online and made sure I had completed all the listed side missions, so I can’t figure out why one is missing.
I put my Blue Heron outfit back on and ran every inch of the area initiating dialogues in an effort to trigger the missing mission giver, but there doesn’t seem to be one. However, when I went to look at the remaining challenges in the region stats accessed from base camps, I saw I only had 10 of the 11 side missions for the HC region. I finished what I thought were the last three side missions for that area. After the main missions moved from the Hidden Cityto the next area, I noticed I was only 76% done in the HC.
